So many new technological advancements have been realized in the area of banking and all geared towards making customer services faster and smoother. One of our flaws is that we lack mutual respect for---------------------------------------------------------------------- and we disregard even the simplest etiquettes like queuing up and waiting for our turns. (others, each other, another, one another). Even when we queue up in front of a cash point or ATM machines, there is----------------------------------------------------------any maintenance of social distancing because many persons understand why it is important. (hardly, never, always, ever). It is important because banking documents are-----------------------------------------------------------------------------that people need their space when consulting or using them. (much, far, so, more). Respecting these etiquettes is a habit we---------------------------------------------------------all adopt. (needn’t, must, have to, should). It is an advice.

I will teach the people not only how to recycle and treat their garbage but also enlighten them on reasons----------------------------------------they should.
Josh: Meet the Mayor then and share your view----------------------------------------------------------------him.
Ruth: The Mayor? No I would -----------------------------------------------------------meet with the chiefs than meet with the Mayor, because he may just politicise it.

SECTION C: COMPREHENSION. (10 marks)
Read the passage below and answer the questions that follow.
An English language teacher meets a student on the bilingualism day and have the following dialogue.
Good morning Sir.
Good morning young man. How are you today?
I am doing great. Thank you Sir.
Where are you off to?
I am going to the stadium to watch a football match.
I beg your pardon I!! I am surprised at your response. Isn’t today the national bilingualism day? Weren’t you supposed to be in school with your mates to celebrate this day?
Of course Sir. But I am not interested in this issue. I don’t know what bilingualism has brought to this country, and of which we can be proud.
There you go again!!! You keep on getting me astonished. Bilingualism is a vector of progress and development.
Really!!!
Yes of course. Bilingualism is extremely beneficial both for individuals and the state. Are you impressed by the bilingualism of mister Peter ESSOKA, Charles MESSANGA NYAMDING, Charles NDONGO, professor Maurice KAMTO, minister ISSA TCHIROMA Bakary…?
From all indications they are models to be followed. I am impressed by their outstanding bilingualism.
In that case, bear in mind that bilingualism facilitates communication. Let’s suppose you get to the market wishing to buy a pair of shoes and you notice your seller speaks the second language. If you are able to understand the language it will be easy for you to discus and understand each other. Meanwhile if you don’t things will be tough for you. Furthermore, it facilitates the acquisition of a job both at the national and international levels. In fact, during an interview an applicant who shows signs of being bilingual has that as an advantage on their side; and that eases their recruitment. Finally, it is a tool of unity and national integration. Whenever people of different linguistic and cultural backgrounds live together and communicate despite these diversities, it enables others to discover different cultures, and by so doing, promote peaceful coexistence and living togetherness.
Wowwww. I am impressed. From now on, I will endeavor to speak both official languages in Cameroon so as to strengthen my bilingualism. Thanks very much for enlightening me Sir.
You’re welcome my dear. Enjoy your day.
Thank you Sir.
